Create a life that feels good on the inside.

I used to be convinced that I have a bad relationship with food, I kept making excuses for binge eating and restricting my diet. Perhaps you could relate to “next week will be different”, “tomorrow I will start eating healthy again”, but next week turned to next month and “tomorrow” has been a melody that automatically replayed, every time you opened the fridge door.

I realized that I am convincing myself that I have a bad relationship with food because your body takes on all the negative banter and self-doubt and manifests it into stress, which is definitely a trigger for binge eating.

I educated myself about what food my body could benefit from, the only thing I restricted myself of, was taking one step closer to the scale. I made the mind shift to heal my body from the inside out, counting the colors on my plate, not the calories.

Here are a few tips that have helped me to heal my relationship with food:

  •     Eat mindfully. Take 3 deep breaths before you eat, and take your time to taste every bite.
  •     The only way to heal your relationship with food is to heal your relationship with your body, through food. Be mindful of what you put into your temple.
  •     Know what you are feeding your body.
  •     Eat Real food. tip: Avoid processed packaged foods. Ex: When you buy apples, the label should only list “apples” (When you read the label, you should be able to pronounce most of the ingredients)
  •     Make time to make a wholesome meal, sit down and chew your food
  •     Have gratitude for your food, take a good look at your plate before you lift up your fork, think of all the nutrients that assist your body.
  •     Know the difference between emotional eating, boredom, and hunger. Listen to your body.

You are the only one who can give your body the love that it needs. Take care of your body, if you want self-love – Give it love. As simple as that. Start by making one healthy choice and then another, until you have created a lifetime of healthy habits.
